LACO HALAMA`
Nasceu em 1957. Formado pela Academia de Cinema de Bratislava, ele trabalhou para a TV da Eslováquia entre 1981 e 1990. Foi assistente de direção de algumas produções cinematográficas e realizou vários filmes para TV, em sua grande maioria infantis e musicais. O Campo das Mulheres Perdidas é seu primeiro longa.

Lai Miu-suet Born in Hong Kong, in 1966. She graduated in Marketing at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 1989 she started to work in the movies as director assistant and, in 1998, she directed her first short film, Father’s Toy. She directed her first feature film Glass Tears in 2001, selected for the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes. The Floating Landscape is her second feature film and was exhibited at the Venice Film Festival in 2003.

Born in São Paulo, Brazil, in 1969. Filmmaker and theater director, she graduated in cinema from the FAAP. Her first film was the short movie Cartão Vermelho (1994), screened at the 18th Mostra. Laís directed the documentaries Cine Mambembe, o Cinema Descobre o Brasil (1999, 23rd Mostra) and A Guerra dos Paulistas (2002) for TV. In 2000, she directed her first feature film, Brainstorm (24th Mostra), winner of the Brasília Film Festival. She has also directed the features The Ballroom (2008), As Melhores Coisas do Mundo (2010) and Just Like Our Parents (2017). She was the CEO of Spcine between 2019 and 2021.

Born in 1969 in Kiel, Germany. After completing his graduate degree in History, Politics and Philosophy, he studied Film Directing studies at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. He graduated with the documentary film Lübke – In Search Of President Heinrich Lübke (1997). After a directing internship on the set of the TV series Lindenstraße and several projects, he started working as a TV director. His movie debut was with the feature film The Day Bobby Ewing Died (2004), which ran at Cannes Film Festival.

Born in Copenhagen in 1956. He started in feature films direction with The Element of Crime (1984, 9th Mostra). Von Trier continued his career with Epidemic (1987) and Europa (1991), winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes Film Festival. In 1994, he made the television mini-series The Kingdom (18th Mostra), and, in 1996, he directed Breaking the Waves, that also won the Jury Prize at Cannes. Von Trier created, in partnership with Thomas Vinterberg, the Dogma 95 Movement and, in 1998, premiered The Idiots (22nd Mostra), work that marked the Danish cinema. He also directed Dancer in the Dark (2000, 24th Mostra), winner of the Golden Palm at Cannes, Dogville (2003, 27th Mostra), Manderlay (2005, 29th Mostra), Antichrist (2009), Melancholia (2011) and the two parts of Nymphomaniac (2013, 38th Mostra). The House That Jack Built is his most recent film.

Born in 1946, in Stockholm, Sweden. He directed his first short film at the age of 10, began his professional career in Swedish television. He directed a number of music videos, most notably for the Swedish pop ABBA. His feature film directorial debut came in 1975 with A Guy and A Gal. In 1977, he wrote, produced and directed the documentary ABBA: The Movie. After making a number of Swedish films, including Father to Be (1979), The Rooster (1981), and Happy We (1983), Hallström gained international recognition for My Life as a Dog (1985), adapted from Reider Jonsson`s autobiographical novel. He next directed The Children of Bullerby Village (1986) and More About the Children of Bullerby Village. In 1991, Hallström made his debut American feature, Once Around, followed by What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993). In 1995, he directed Something to Talk About. After a four-year hiatus from filmmaking, he returned with a film version of John Irving`s best-selling novel, The Cider House Rules (1999), followed by Chocolat (2000). He divides his time between the USA and Sweden.

Born in Bologna in 1934, she began her career acting in 1958 in the part of a jazz singer in the musical “I Saltimbanchi”, by Walter Chiari. After other theater experiences, she began to act in cinema and worked with Roberto Rossellini, Andre Téchiné, Marco Bellocchio, and Bernardo Bertolucci. She worked with Pasolini in The Cream Cheese (1963), What Are Clouds? (1966), Earth Seen from the Moon (1967), and Theorem (1968), for which she was awarded the prize for acting in Venice. She also made The Canterbury Tales (1972). Since 1980, she has been director for the Fondo Pier Paolo Pasolini.

Italians Marco Battaglia (Palermo, 1975), Gianluca Donati (Bologna, 1973), Laura Schimmenti (Palermo, 1966) and Andrea Zulini (Monfalcone, 1966) come from different experiences in the fields of directing and editing of audiovisual works. Since 2000 they have joined forces and started to collaborate with the production company Playmaker to realize documentaries focused on social, cultural and current issues. In 2002 they created Telefabbrica, a street TV that followed the syndicate fights of FIAT Termini Imerese (Palermo) workers. Together they have directed and produced current affairs and lifestyle documentaries like La Barcolana (2005), and some reportages on job issues in Sicily.

Born in 1965, in Amsterdam (Holland). He grew up midst the artistic and scientific circles in the country. His parents separated when he was three years old, and he co-existed with several world religions such as Catholicism, Protestantism, Judaism, and Buddhism. He travelled to country such as India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Nepal. He began his career as junior editor for Dutch documentaries. After studying theater and cinema at the University of Amsterdam, he worked as production director for several companies and produced dramas for TV. He wrote, produced, and directed a short film, The Jewel of Death, in 1992. Paid is his first feature.

As of 1996 freelance author and director for television magazine, documentary film, documentary series and feature film (including EX – Was die Nation erregte, Landesgeschichte, Schätze der Welt). Laurens Straub Born and raised in Holland. 1970 founded the Filmverlag Der Autoren together with Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Wim Wenders, Volker Vogeler, Peter Lilienthal, Uwe Brandner, Hark Bohm, Rüdiger Nüchtern, Michael Fengler, Thomas Schamoni, Pete Ariel and others. 1979-1987 foundation of the film distribution company Filmwelt together Christian Friedel and Michael Pakleppa in Munich. 1986-1993 tutoring and teaching positions. As of 1994 continuation with teaching positions. Member of the board of directors of the Consortium of Producers of New German Cinema. He deceased in 2007. He directed, among others, the documentary shorts Libertários (1976, 37th Mostra) and Unlikely Encounter (2016, 40th Mostra), in addition to the feature films Sonho Sem Fim (1985), The Beast in the Jungle (2017, 41st Mostra) and Fotografação (2019). He was a member of the Jury for the 30th Mostra, in 2006.

Born in the Philippines in 1958. He is the most important filmmaker of his country, and in 2013, the 37th Mostra presented a retrospective of his work, with the presence of the director, who joined the International Jury. In 2014, his feature film From What Is Before won the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival and the Audience Award at the 38th Mostra, and in 2016, for The Woman Who Left, he won the Golden Lion at Venice International Film Festival. Born in 1965, in Montreal, Canada. He has produced and directed documentaries that have featured in film festivals and on TV channels such as the BBC in UK, NHK in Japan and SBS in Australia. In 2003, Elman produced the Bafta Award winning documentary The Nine Lives of Alice Martineau (2003). He also produced Take It to the East (2005), documentary with the Rolling Stones on their first Asian Tour, and documentaries about the Chinese culture, as The Biggest Chinese Restaurant in the World (2008) and Shanghai Tales (2009).

Actor, writer and filmmaker, Ramos was born in Salvador, Bahia, in 1978. He began his career as an actor when he was a child and, at the age 15, started working with the theater group Bando de Teatro Olodum. He presented remarkable acting in television and in movies like Carandiru (2003), The Man who Copied (2003), Lower City (2005), The Violin Teacher (2015, 39th Mostra) and In Dog’s Words (2016). For his acting in Madame Satã (2002), he won the Special Jury Award at the 26th Mostra.

As from 1997, he went back to working, also in Poland. He gained international renown in 1996 as co-producer and co-script writer to the film Basquiat, by Julian Schnabel, that opened with the 20th Mostra. At the same time as he directed and wrote the scripts for his own films in Poland, he worked as producer in the United States. In 1997, he launched a film for the Polish television, Pokój Saren. He is poet, painter, writer, and script writer in addition to director and producer of cinema, theater and opera. He directed a film on Ronald Biggs, Prisoner of Rio, in 1989.

He directed the feature films Green Fish (1997); Peppermint Candy (2000); Oasis (2002), winner of the FIPRESCI prize for the best direction and the best actress award (Moon So-Ri) at the Venice Film Festival; Secret Sunshine (2007), which recognized Jeon Do-Yeon as best actress at the Cannes Film Festival, and Poetry (2010, 34th Mostra), winner of the best screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival. Lee Chang-Dong also been the minister of Culture and Tourism in South Korea from 2003 to 2004.

A son of Korean immigrants, he grew up on a small farm in rural Arkansas and then attended Yale University to study Biology. At Yale, with new exposure to Art Cinema in his senior year, Chung dropped his plans for Medical School. He already filmed the shorts Highway (2003), Sex and Coffee (2004), and Los Coyotes (2005). He resides in New York with his wife Valerie and formed Almond Tree Films, LLC, with his collaborators and fellow filmmakers Samuel Anderson and Jenny Lund. Munyurangabo is his first feature.

Lena Herzog studied philosophy and linguistics, and began working primarily in the field of photography and printmaking. She is the author of six books of photography and a regular contributing artist to Harper’s Magazine. Herzog`s immersive video and audio installation Last Whispers: An Oratorio for Vanished Voices, Collapsing Universes and a Falling Tree premiered at The British Museum in 2016 and the VR experience Last Whispers: An Immersive Oratorio begins its world tour in 2019.

Pablo has graduated in dramaturgy and works as an actor and dramaturg. Their graduation project, Las Bestias (2015), was also their first feature film.

One of the most important figures in the history of Brazilian cinema, Hirszman was one of the founders of Cinema Novo and managed to make the transition from fiction to documentary like few other filmmakers could. His most important films are Maioria Absoluta (1964), The Deceased (1968), São Bernardo (1972), They Don’t Wear Black Tie (1981) and ABC da Greve (1990), released posthumously. Imagens Do Inconsciente, a documentary he was finishing when got sick, was exhibited at the 37th Mostra divided in three episodes: A Barca Do Sol, No Reino Das Mães e Em Busca Do Espaço Cotidiano He died in 1987in Rio de Janeiro.

Cineasta neo-zelandês já consagrado em seu país com as premiações do seu longa de estréia, "Illustrious Energy"(87). Estudou Belas Artes na Universidade de Auckland, foi escultor e criou instalações de som e luz nos anos 60 e 70. Virou-se para o cinema filmando as suas próprias instalações. Sofisticou-se na arte da iluminação e empregou o seu método como diretor de fotografia de vários filmes. Este seu novo projeto de filmar um filme dentro de outro filme convenceu imediatamente o produtor.

The son of Adolfo Celi, Leonardo was born in London on February 17, 1968. He began a career in 1988 as director and producer of documentaries, short films, and television programs, the strongest feature of Celifilms producers. For ten years he worked as assistant director to Bernardo Bertolucci (in Little Buddha). Sul Treno Belgrado-Istanbul, his first short film, was awarded a prize at the 1991 Montreal Film Festival. In 1994, he produced and directed Il Giorno della Rivoluzione, a documentary on the Rumanian people and the fall of dictator Ceaucescu. In 1996, he completed a short film Aula Senza Pareti, one of the episodes from the film Intolerance, by initiative of Italian cinema in a drive against prejudice. Video-art Assioma di Qualunque Cosa, 2002, on the Kosovo War, was shown at the Venice Festival.

Leondre Campos - Nasceu em 1978, no Rio de Janeiro. Formou-se em Direito pela UFRJ em 1999 e é apaixonado por cinema, fotografia e principalmente lomografia. Atuou como advogado por quase 10 anos quando, em 2005, decidiu seguir sua real vocação. Ainda que sem a devida formação acadêmica na área, viajou para a Indonésia a fim de realizar seu primeiro filme documentário, Indo.doc, e por lá ficou por quatro meses de árduos trabalhos. A partir daí entrou de cabeça no mundo da cinematografia, freqüentando inúmeros cursos na Academia Internacional de Cinema no Rio de Janeiro. André Pires - He was born in 1976 and majored in Journalism and Advertising at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro. He has worked in press and publicity agencies. He is a partner in the Lanho clothing brand name. He produced the video to advertise the brand name and, with the experience, began to devote himself to other projects in the field together with Leondre Campos, his partner. Indo.doc is his first feature.

Nasceu em 1935. É um dos melhores documentaristas do moderno cinema americano. Um poeta apaixonado das culturas regionais. Seus filmes saboreiam velhas tradições, laços familiares, a música local e também a boa comida. Mas Les Blank não é apenas um etnógrafo. É também um peregrino. Um camera-man de muito talento, Blank costuma dizer que filma em estado de "transe": "Eu bebo muita cerveja, para obliterar o Eu autoconsciente, objetivo". Seus filmes, a maioria entre 30 e 50 minutos, são tecidos pela música e enrolados por uma profunda atmosfera nostálgica. São filmes saborosos, de muita energia, contrastando com a própria figura muito tranqüila de Blank. Ele admite: "Não gosto muito de filmar. O trabalho é extenuante, o equipamento quebra, os custos são altos, e transar as pessoas é um grande problema". Sua produtora é um negócio de praticamente duas pessoas: Blank como fotógrafo e Maureen Gosling no som, acrescidos ocasionalmente de pessoal técnico.

His first feature, Rekawa (The Line of Destiny, 1956) was the first film to be entirely filmed in the rural area of the country with amateur actors. He won prizes in the film festivals at Cannes, Edinburgh, and others. Gamperaliya (Changes in the Village, 1963) is another acknowledged production by the film maker, now with 21 films to his name. Mansion by the Lake marks his return to film making, after seven years absence.

Libby`s film directing credits include the short film entitled Foreplay on the band Medeski, Martin & Wood, which was recently purchased by Blue Note Records. She also produced the film Rules of Love, directed by Bruno Coppola, beyond Popcorn Shrimp, Christopher Walken’s directorial debut.

Born in 1959 in a village in east Taiwan. At the age of 16, he left for the capital, Taipei, where he became a baker. In 1986, during a workshop on directing, he met his future wife Ko Su-ching with whom he produced his first documentary in 1990, financed with funds from his fruit plantation. He made his first feature, A Drifting Life, in 1996. The next year, he directed the internationally acclaimed Murmur of Youth. After that, he directed Sweet Degenaration (1998), March of Happiness (1999) and Betelnut Beauty (2000).

Born in São Paulo, 1961. She worked for ten years at the New York University film department. Her directorial debut was the short film Eu Sei Que Você Sabe (1995, 19th Mostra), later writing and directing the features Tonic Dominant (2001), The Milky Way (2007, 31st Mostra) and Santos 100 Anos de Futebol Arte (2012). São Silvestre is her fifth feature film. She is also at the 37th Mostra with the fiction feature film Best Friends.

Lindy Heymann directed her first documentary - 3 Hours in High Heels in Heaven (1994) - for Channel 4. She has directed over a hundred music videos, working with artists such as Suede and Paul McCartney. In 2003, she co-wrote and directed the faux-documentary Showboy. She recently completed Service (2006), a 30-minute comedy drama for Channel 4.

Danish director and script writer Lone Scherfig was born in 1959 and graduated in 1984 at the National Film School. The Birthday Trip (1990), her first feature, was awarded a prize at the Rouen Nordic Film Festival. On Our Own (1998), her second feature, was awarded a prize at the Montreal Festival and at Cinekid in Amsterdam. Italian for Beginners, Sherfig’s third feature, was awarded the Urso de Prata in Berlin and the prizes for best script, supporting actor, and supporting actress at the Robert Festival in 2001.

Grew up in London, Berlin and in the United States. She studied Law, Literature, and History of Art. She has worked in documentary films and television for close to 30 years. Assisted French director Ariane Mnouchkine with her script of Mephisto for the Théâtre du Soleil and simultaneously co-directed a documentary about the making of Mephisto for the German Television. Directed several documentaries for TV, amongst them Guns: a Day in the Death of America (1990) and The River Isar (2004).

Lorenzo Conte (Roma 1974) and Davide Barletti (Lecce 1972) founded, together with Edoardo Cicchetti and Mattia Mariani, the Fluid Video Crew production company which has promoted, since 1995, cultural events, short films, documentaries, TV series which were awared prizes in important festivals all over the world and were broadcast by national, international and satellite channels. They won in 1997, as best work, the International Festival of Short Stories and New Images Arcipelago of Roma with the documentary Shquiperia-Albania. In 2001 they received an award for best film at Festival Merano TV and at Milano Film Festival with the documentary I Fantasisti - Le vere storie del calcio Napoli. In 2003 with the short film Gil ultracorpi della porta accanto they won the Festival di Cinema di Confine, Città di Bolzano. In 2003 with Italian Sud-Est, their first docu-fiction feature film, they participated in the 60th Venice Film Festival. In 2005 they produced two more works in international coproductions: Alone Across Egnatia and Paloma. Davide Barletti and Lorenzo Conte, authors, scriptwriters and directors, have been working separately and together since 1995.

É, com efeito, mergulhando no coração da realidade cotidiana que Feuillade – sem dúvida um dos maiores artistas da história do cinema – sabe dar credibilidade aos personagens mais inverossímeis e às situações mais delirantes. Porque, para ele, a realidade cotidiana é apenas uma máscara atrás da qual se dissimula uma outra realidade, bem mais forte, bem mais verdadeira, bem mais real... bem mais bela: a realidade do maravilhoso, do onírico, do fantástico. Fez também Tih-Minh (1918) e Barrabas (1919), entre outros, com seus heróis que se colocaram lado a lado de grandes mitos populares e que atraíram milhões de espectadores. Menos conhecidos, porque uma grande parte foi perdida e porque de outros só são conhecidos os roteiros, suas comédias e "vaudevilles" não devem ser negligenciados, muito pelo contrário. Encontramos, no universo cômico, as mesmas situações absurdas e de suspense que fizeram o seu sucesso no universo da aventura. No esquecimento depois do cinema falado, só os surrealistas declaravam por ele uma enorme admiração. A sua reabilitação começou depois da Segunda Guerra Mundial graças a Henri Langlois, restaurador de seus filmes desde a fundação da Cinemateca Francesa, e a cineastas como Georges Franju (co-fundador da Cinemateca), Alain Resnais, François Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard, Luis Buñuel e muitos outros... A fama internacional veio em "Subway", e mais tarde, com "Imensidão Azul", que abriu o Festival de Cannes de 1989 e foi o campeão de bilheteria na França neste mesmo ano. Marcheggiano assinou a direção dos curtas 4 a Cero (1998), Ruta 3 (1996) e Loma de burro (1994). De La Serna dirigiu o longa El Refugio de los Caracoles (2005) e os curtas Um Buen Negocio (2000) e La Guerra (1994). Yurcovich dirigiu os curtas Um Vaso de Soda (2008), Diferente (2007) e El Extraordinario Desarrollo de lãs Comunicaciones (2000). Os três escreveram e codirigiram juntos o documentário O Ambulante. They live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. They have worked together frequently in different projects in the last ten years. In those projects, most of them short fiction films, they had swapped the roles of direction, production, direction assistant and executive production from one project to another. Marcheggiano directed the short films 4 a Cero (1998), Ruta 3 (1996) and Loma de burro (1994). De La Serna directed the feature film El Refugio de los Caracoles (2005) and the short films Um Buen Negocio (2000) and La Guerra (1994). Adriana Yurcovich directed the short films Um Vaso de Soda (2008), Diferente (2007) and El Extraordinario Desarrollo de lãs Comunicaciones (2000). There, Visconti met the filmmaker Jean Renoir (1894-1979) and worked as his assistant director in Toni (1935). He made his debut as a director with the feature film Obsession (1943). Among his most famous works are The Earth Trembles (1948), White Nights (1957), both awarded at the Venice Film Festival, The Leopard (1963, 35th Mostra), winner of the Golden Palm at the Cannes Film Festival, and Death in Venice (1971). Died in Rome in 1976 at the age of 69.

Luciano Barcaroli and Gerardo Panichi were born in Rome, the former in 1974 and the latter in 1972. They both directed the documentary Rosy-Fingered Dawn: a Film on Terrence Malick (2002). Giuseppe Tornatore: Every Film my First Film is their second documentary feature.

LUCIANO LAROBINA
Luciano Larobina was born in 1972 in Patagonia, Argentina. He moved to Mexico in 1980 and studied at the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba, having workshops with Gabriel García Márquez. In 1996, he enrolled at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (Film Training Center), from which he graduated with the documentary thesis Zapata’s Shoes (2000). Among his other films are the doc México al cubo en Cuba and the short La divina trinidad es cuadrada como un círculo.

Born in São Paulo, he currently lives in Rio de Janeiro. He started working in film as a still photographer and also worked as an assistant director before his directorial debut with the short film Os Moradores da Rua Humboldt (1991). He is one of the directors of the official FIFA film for the 1994 World Cup as well as episodes of the TV series Filhos do Carnaval (2006) and Antonia (2006). Father’s Chair is his first feature film.

Born in Salta, north of Argentina, in 1966. Martel moved to Buenos Aires to take communication studies. Lucy Barreto She was born in 1933, in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, and got married in 1954 with the photo reporter at O Cruzeiro magazine at the time, Luiz Carlos Barreto. Her first work in the cinema was as scene assistant in The Heirs (1968), by Carlos Diegues. She is one of the most important Brazilian producers. With her husband, she is at the head of LC Barreto and Filmes do Equador, where she is responsible for analyzing screenplays and books that may become movies. Her daughter Paula Barreto helps her in the creation and elaboration of projects. Among the over seventy titles she produced and co-produced, there are some of the most important movies of Brazilian cinema, such as Terra em Transe (1967), by Glauber Rocha, Bye Bye Brasil (1980), by Carlos Diegues, Memórias do Cárcere (1984), by Nelson Pereira dos Santos, and Inocência (1985), by Walter Lima Jr.. Recently, she has produced The Middle of the World (2003), first solo feature by Vicente Amorim, and House of Sand (2005), by Andrucha Waddington. She also produces the films by her sons Bruno and Fabio Barreto. For Bruno, she has produced, among others, Four Days in September (1996, nominated to the 1997 foreign movie Academy Award). Fabio Barreto Born in 1957, in Rio de Janeiro, son of Lucy e Luiz Carlos Barreto. He started with the short film A Estória de José e Maria (1977), which was awarded the best direction Candango at the Brasília Film Festival. His first feature, India, Daughter of the Sun (1982), was produced by his grandmother, Lucíola Villela. He then made O Rei do Rio (1985) and Luzia Homem (1987), before being nominated for the 1996 foreign film Academy Award for O Qu4trilho (1995). Among his recent works there are Bela Donna (1998), The Passion of Jacobina (2002) and Nossa Senhora de Caravaggio (2005). Marcelo Santiago Assistant director in O Qu4trilho and Bela Donna, but he also got involved in the production of Four Days in September. He was also associate producer of the documentary 2000 Nordestes (2000, in the 24th Mostra selection), by Vicente Amorim and David França Mendes, and of Bossa Nova (2000), by Bruno Barreto. He started in the direction with the short film Os Filhos de Nelson (2000). His first feature was Sonhos e Desejos (2006), which brought the best actress Kikito to Mel Lisboa at the Gramado Film Festival.

Born in Calanda, Spain, in 1900, his first films were French collaborations with Salvador Dalí: the short film Un Chien Andalou (1928) and the feature The Golden Age (1930). After living in New York, he moved to Mexico in 1946 e directed many of his works there, including Los Olvidados (1950), Él (1953), The Criminal Life of Archibaldo de la Cruz (1955) and Nazarin (1959). After a brief return to Franco’s Spain in order to make Viridiana (1961), winner of the Golden Palm in Cannes, he returned to Mexico and filmed The Exterminating Angel (1962). Starting with The Diary of a Chambermaid (1964), he began the French period of his filmography, when he filmed, among others, Simon of the Desert (1965), Belle du Jour (1967), The Milky Way (1969), The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972) and That Obscure Object of Desire (1977). He died in Mexico in 1983. In 2000, the 24th Mostra presented a retrospective of his body of work.

Nasceu em 1962, na cidade do México. Iniciou sua carreira fazendo curtas de animação, como "El Hijo Pródigo"(84) e "Malayerba Nunca Muerde"(88), com o qual ganhou alguns prêmios incluindo o de melhor curta de animação do Festival de Grandes Escolas Cinematográficas de Montreal. Dirigiu em seguida os curtas "Un Muy Cortometraje"(88), "Amada"(88), "Sombrasen la Malinche"(89), "Paloma Azul"(89) e "Música para Dos"(92). Em 1992 dirigiu seu primeiro longa, "La Mujer de Benjamin", exibido na 15ª Mostra e que ganhou prêmios como o 2º lugar do Festival do Cinema Jovem na Itália. Em seguida fez no Japão (na Sakura Motion Co.) um novo curta de animação, "Los Mejores Deseos"(92). "La Vida Conjugal" é seu segundo longa-metragem.

Luis Galvão Teles nasceu em Lisboa, em 1945. Estudou cinema em Paris, de 1968 a 1970, depois de ter se formado em Direito. Em 1972 seu curta Bestiaire foi premiado no Festival de Bérgamo. Realizou seu primeiro longa-metragem, A Confederação, em 1978, seleção da 3ª Mostra. Depois disso, dirigiu A Vida é Bela, exibido na 6ª Mostra, e Portrait de Famille. Elas é seu quarto longa.

He spent most of the seventies and eighties working for his family cinema with such film directors as Buñuel, Kubrick, Woody Allen, Truffaut, Rohmer, Saura, and many others. He studied Science of the Image in Madrid. He directed three short films Sangre Ciega, La Vida es Corta, (in which he also acted), and Cachorro (first version of this feature in 2004). His first feature is from 1998, La Primera Noche de Mi Vida, indicated for the Goya, the main Spanish award in the categories of best film and best director. His next film, Manolito Gafotas, was awarded the prize for best children`s film at the Berlin Festival. El Cielo Abierto (2001), was awarded the Goya prize for best supporting actor Emílio Gurierréx, Cuba. In 2002, actress Lolita was awarded the Goya for best beginning actress for her film Rencor, with Jorge Perugorría in the cast. Bear Cub (2004) was selected for the Panorama Section of the Berlin Festival.

Born in Santiago, Chile, Luis Vera began to work at the age of 15 as a reporter-photographer for a sports magazine. He graduated in philosophy by the University of Chile. His first documentary was The Meeting (1971), on a world conference of anti-imperialistic youth solidary with Vietnam. He was part of the Cine Experimental group an went into exile in Peru and in Rumania. He arrived in Sweden in 1979 (his "third exile", forced to do so because of the Pinochet coup d`état in 1973, and lives on in Sweden today. In the last 20 years, he has directed, written, and produced 38 short-films and films for TV. He has made four features: The Damned Damn (1985), Consuelo (1988), The Country of Never Again (1992), and Miss Ameriguá (1994).

Paulista, 29 anos, Laís Bodanzky se formou em cinema pela FAAP, em São Paulo. Estreou no cinema com o curta Cartão Vermelho, premiado no Brasil e no exterior. Há três anos vem desenvolvendo o projeto Cine Mambembe. Luiz Bolognesi, paulista de 33 anos, se formou em jornalismo pela PUC, em 1987, e cursou ciências sociais na USP, até 1988. Como roteirista, trabalhou para várias produtoras de São Paulo. Estreou como diretor de cinema, em 1996, com o curta Pedro e o Senhor. Desde 1996 vem coordenando o projeto Cinema Mambembe.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, in 1960. A film maker and television director with a background in languages and architecture, Luiz Fernando Carvalho made his first film, The Waiting, in 1986. This short film was awarded the prize for best film at the San Sebastián Film Festival (Spain) and for best film, best photography, and best actress at the Gramado Festival. He then built up a solid career on television that included directing the novellas Renascer (1992) and O Rei do Gado (1996), Meu Pedacinho de Chão (2013) and Velho Chico (2016) and the miniseries The Maias (2001), Today Is Maria`s Day (2003), and A Pedra do Reino (2007). He also directed the feature film To The Left of the Father (2001) which won the Best Brazilian Feature Film – Audience Prize at the 25th Mostra.

He is known for the features O Jardim das Espumas (1970), A$suntina das Amérikas (1975), Crônica de um Industrial (1978) and O Santo e a Vedete (1982, 6th Mostra), his last feature before a hiatus of more than 30 years, that was only over with the release of Dois Ca$amentos (2014). He also directed Paraguay War (2016), exhibited at the 40th Mostra. Rosemberg Filho died in 2019 at the age of 76. Jester is his last feature.

Born in São Paulo in 1936, he was an important director, screenwriter and producer in Brazilian cinema during the 60s and 70s. His filmography includes São Paulo S.A. (1965), Case of the Naves Brothers (1967) and Panca de Valente (1968).

LUKAS MOODYSSON
Born in Sweden, in 1969. Before he started making films, he wrote books of poems and novels. He directed his first film in 1995, a short film, Showdown in the Underworld. He wrote and directed Bara Prata Lite in 1997 and Amigas de Colégio in 1998, the Teddy Award in the Berlin Film Festival, 1999. Bem-vindos (2000) has won several awards amongst which the Special Prize from the Jury at the Paris Film Festival, 2001.

LUKAS ROEGLER
He was born in 1976 and graduated from the Bonn University, in Germany, with a M.A. degree in Political Science. He works as an investigative multimedia freelance journalist. Sisters of No Mercy is his documentary film debut. For his achievements in investigative journalism and the first production phase of this project the director and producer has won the 2005 Personal Development Award.

LUKAS STEPANIK
Schindel was born in Bad Hall in 1944. Stepanik was born in Vienna in 1950. They have been working together since 1981, especially for television, and directed “Auf der Strecke” and “Bittersweet”. Stepanik wrote the novel by the same name that served as a script for this Gebirtig, in 1992.

Born in Salzburg, Austria, in 1985. He studied at the Universidad del Cine, in Buenos Aires, and made his debut as a director with the short movie A Letter to Fukuyama (2010). In 2012, Rinner founded the production company Nabis Filmgroup. He also directed Parabellum (2015, 39th Mostra). A Decent Woman is his second feature film.

Born in 1980, Grzegorzek graduated in law from the Warsaw University and was a tennis player. He then decided to work in cinema. His debut as a director and screenwriter happened in 2016 with Kamper. A Coach’s Daughter is his second feature film.

Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 1963. Filmmaker and producer, he is one of the founders of Conspiração Filmes. He directed the documentaries Pierre Fatumbi Verger: Messenger Between 2 Worlds (2000) and O Mistério do Samba (2008), this one with Carolina Jabor, and the fiction feature films Casseta & Planeta - A Taça do Mundo É Nossa (2003) and O Vendedor de Passados (2015).

Roberto Berliner - He was born in 1957, in Rio de Janeiro. He is a documentarist and director of video clips and publicity films. He founded the TvZERO producers and directed short films, Angola (1989), Street Sounds (1997) and The Tuning of the Inner Side (2002). His first documental feature Born to Be Blind was launched in 2005 and was part of the 28th Mostra. Léo Crivelare - He was born in 1973 in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais. He is a journalist and has worked as director of images and photographer for seven years. In 2004, he co-directed a short collective documentary A Cubana. Lula Queiroga - He was born in 1960 in Recife, Pernambuco. He directs institutional films, documentaries and publicity videos and composes sound tracks and jingles.

Born in Milan, Italy, in 1947. She lived in Argentina until the age of six and then moved to Brazil. She majored in philosophy from the University of São Paulo and began to make films after she was part of a short film Um Clássico, Dois em Casa e Nenhum Jogo Fora (1968), by Djalma Limongi Batista. She directed the features Cristais de Sangue (1975) and United States of Brazil (2005, 29th Mostra).

LYNE CHARLEBOIS
Lyne Charlebois started her cinematographic career in the early eighties on projects of Canadian filmmakers such as Jean-Claude Lauzon, Gilles Carle and Pierre Falardeau. On television, she has helmed the popular series Tabou (2002) e Nos Étés (2005). In this period, she shot Quel Jour Était-Ce?, a series of seven short films shown in 2005 at the Toronto Film Festival. Recently, she has travelled through Africa, Asia, South America and Europe in the framework of Circus Around The World, a documentary photography project for Cirque du Soleil. Borderline is her first feature film.

LYNN SHELTON
She spent some years acting and writing, before gaining admittance to the New York School of Visual Arts. There, she became an experimental filmmaker and studied with such masters as Ed Bowes and Peggy Ahwesh. Her films as from then have been shown at a number of festivals. She edited independent features such as Outpatient (2002) and Hedda Gabler (2004). We Go Way Back, her first feature as director and scriptwriter, was awarded the Grand Prize of the Jury and the Vision Award for Photography at the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival.

Nasceu em Sofia em 1937. Estudou Arte Dramática e suas primeiras experiências foram teatrais, chegando a ser premiado como o melhor diretor de 64. No ano seguinte passou a dirigir televisão. Desde 71 dirige a Boyana Film Studio. Seu primeiro longa foi "Affection", de 72. É o principal cineasta da Bulgária. Em 85, com o longa "A Gloria de Khan", conseguiu co-produção com os Estados Unidos e ganhou ampla difusão através de vários festivais internacionais.
